One dead after vehicle makes U-turn on N1 south

The male driver of a delivery vehicle died while two other people were injured.

LIMPOPO – One person is dead and two others injured after two vehicles collided along the N1-25 south on Friday afternoon.

The incident happened near Mookgophong in the Waterberg district at around 17:30 and involved a bakkie and a sedan.

According to the Spokesperson for the Department of Transport and Community Safety, Matomi Moremi-Taueatsoala it is alleged the vehicles collided after the driver of the one vehicles involved made an unsafe u-turn into oncoming traffic.

“The driver of the bakkie, a man in his forties, died on the scene. The driver and a passenger from the sedan sustained moderate to minor injuries.”

The exact cause of the incident will form part of a police investigation however reckless driving has not been ruled out.
