Water shortages in parts of Polokwane as muni replaces valves along Potgieter Avenue
Water tankers have since been deployed to the affected areas to provide temporary relief, says Thipa Selala, the spokesperson for the Polokwane Municipality.
POLOKWANE – Water supply to Welgelegen, parts of Bendor, Moregloed and Eduan Park has been stopped to allow the Polokwane Municipality’s maintenance team to replace valves along the pipeline in Potgieter Avenue.
According to municipal spokesperson Thipa Selala the team has estimated seven hours until completion of work. “The municipality has since deployed water tankers to assist areas experiencing water shortage,” he says.
Water supply shall be restored once the team has replaced the valves.
Meanwhile in Annadale another pipe leak was identified between Spelonken Street and bridge on Landdros Maré Street.
“Another team is busy with repairs and investigating areas without water due to the leak,” Selala adds.
The municipality urges residents to promptly report any water challenges to the water and sanitation call centre on 015 023 500.
