Smooth, cool Zwoluga on the airwaves
22-year-old Zwoluga Ngobeni is a household name in the local radio fraternity.
LIMPOPO – Zwoluga Ngobeni has had a passion for the media since she was a young girl.
The 22-year-old shot to stardom in 2018 when she joined Makhado FM as a presenter on their Morning Drive show, and became a household name in the local radio fraternity.
She completed her diploma in journalism and media studies.
She currently hosts the Afternoon Drive Show with Thabelo ‘De people MC’ Mavhona from 14:00 to 18:00, Monday to Friday, and has a large listenership.
She also hosts the Top 20 Reloaded Count Down every Saturday from 10:00 to 12:00.
Her love for radio started after visiting the Phalaphala FM studios as a young girl.
“I saw the presenters and how they managed being on air and talking to thousands of people. I was amazed by that.”
Zwoluga immediately fell in love with radio and started making enquiries on how to become a radio presenter herself one day.
Those who know her will agree that the pleasure of listening to the radio would not be complete without her thrilling voice behind the microphone.
She recalls how she first found himself at Makhado FM.
“When Makhado FM was conceived, I had a feeling that the institution will be a stepping stone towards the realisation of my future dreams. I knew I was at the right place at the right time, and wasted no time,” she said.
When asked what the secret to her success as radio presenter is, she answered: “The most important thing is to engage with your listeners on issues that affect them on a daily basis. You must come up with something unique that will compel your listeners not to change the dial. My recipe for more listenership is to give them more unique local content that they will not find anywhere else. Radio is in my blood and I will not leave it until my last day on earth.”
Zwoluga has a special message for aspiring radio presenters.
“We all come from humble beginnings and we don’t become perfect at once. The more time you spend in this industry, the better you become at what you do.
“You must be willing to learn and accept your mistakes so that you can improve.”
