Motorists advised to remain cautious when travelling to Gauteng
Incidents of protest action have flared up along the R101 and motorists are advised to avoid the areas where possible.
LIMPOPO – Threats of protest action have been reported along the several main routes heading out of Limpopo and motorists have been advised to be cautious when travelling outside of the Limpopo borders.
According to local emergency groups threats of protest action has been reported along the R101 with flare ups expected along the R40. This morning images of protest action surfaced in Hammanskraal with protesters blocking the R101 with burning tyres.
Reports of burning tyres and blocked roads have also been reported near the Carousel offramp.

Towards the east, information about planned protests along the R40 just beyond provincial borders have also been received.
Areas to be affected include Acornhoek, Bushbuckridge, White River and Hazyview among others.

These protests are presumably linked to the ‘Free Zuma’ campaign which has seen businesses and trucks looted, property and infrastructure destroyed in KwaZulu Natal and Gauteng this past week.

In the presidential addresses on Sunday evening, President Ramaphosa condemned these acts which are endangering lives and damaging efforts to rebuild the economy.

He warned that those who are involved in acts of violence that they will be arrested and prosecuted.
