Don’t be caught on the wrong side of the law

There will be no compromise from the police when enforcing lockdown regulations in the province according to provincial police spokesperson brig Motlafela Mojapelo.

POLOKWANE – Mojapelo was speaking on the last instalment of The Brief, an online platform by the Department of Transport and Community Safety. According to Mojapelo the police know that there are people who are trying to take chances with the regulations but they will not be making any compromises and any person found to be on the wrong side of the law will be dealt with accordingly.

“There are various operations currently underway to ensure compliance to lockdown regulations are adhered to. We have come up with various mechanisms that will ensure the monitoring of criminal activities in all five districts. We have also released the contact details of relevant officers that are to be alerted whenever there is any contravention of the lockdown regulations, especially the curfew.”

He says since the move to adjusted level 4 lockdown by President Cyril Ramaphosa two weeks ago, the provincial police department has arrested over 406 people on cases related to lockdown regulations.

Mojapelo has urged that people adhere to the regulations as the police still have their normal duties such as crime preventions.
