[WATCH] Pipeline leakage halts water supply

Lepelle Northern Water has stopped water supply from their Olifantspoort plant.

POLOKWANE – Thokgwaneng, Ga-Maja, Ga-Chuene, a large part of the city as well as Seshego will be affected by Lepelle Northern Water’s latest water supply stoppage.

The water utility informed the municipality that there is a leakage on their Specon pipeline.

Municipal spokesperson Thipa Selala informed Review that repairs will take approximately four hours to complete. 

“Their team started repairs at 13:40 and supply shall be restored once the Olifantspoort is back in operation,” he added.

Selala urged areas with water supply to use water sparingly.

Meanwhile, the municipality is investigating the cause for water shortages experienced Ivy Park, parts of Nirvana, the CBD and Moregloed.

“In the meantime, the municipality will provide temporary relief measure through water tankers to all affected areas. Other areas experiencing water shortage are advised to contact the Water and Sanitation call centre on 015 023 5376 / 015 023 5629,” he concluded.
