Lunch is served in Westenburg

POLOKWANE – Without the help of school feeding schemes, a lot of children in Polokwane will have nothing to eat.
These schemes provide children with at least one meal per day, usually breakfast, to fill their tummies before a full day of learning.
A few women in Westenburg decided to make a difference. They made lunch for learners from Good Hope Primary School, as well as other schools in the area.
“We use our own money to buy the ingredients to make the food. We currently only hand out food on Wednesdays as we do not have enough resources to do it every day. We dream of doing it every day,” says drive organiser Terry Whitehead.
As the learners walk past her house she and her friends, Tina Lucas, Jennifer Southon and Jane Adams, hand out the food to make sure each and everyone is fed.
Terry also has a youth centre where she assists learners with homework.
“I am very proud to say we had three learners in Noordskool who are in the top 10 after joining the youth centre. We would like to extend a thank you to everyone in the community who contributes to this cause.”
