Call for local fine artists to submit their work

The Polokwane Municipality is looking to acquire fine art for the Polokwane Art Museum. 

POLOKWANE – The Polokwane Municipality calls on all local fine artists to submit their work of art for consideration.

According to municipal spokesperson, Thipa Selala the municipality seeks to expand the current collection of art at the Polokwane Art Museum and encourages artists to submit their work for possible acquisition.

Selala adds that certain criteria will apply:

• Applicants must practice in the professional space of art;

• Artworks must be original and in good quality;

• Artworks must represent South African contemporary art;

• Prices of the artworks (including tax, where applicable) and any other cost must be indicated for each artwork submitted;

• Artists must be 18 years or older;

• Artists must be registered in Central Supplier Database;

• Artists must be citizens of South Africa;

• Artists will not be allowed to submit more than three images of their artworks in JPEG format and/or on A4 size paper in colour;

• Artists must submit 1 page Curriculum Vitae (CV)/profile and recent certified copy of ID;

• Artworks of any piece of art must contain a title, medium used, sizes and a brief about the theme;

• All images must be in colour.

He adds that the applications can be submitted via email at AmosL@polokwane.gov.za not later than September 18. “Polokwane Art Museum’s decision will be final and no further correspondence will be entered concerning the outcome of the selection,” he concludes.
