Limpopo: Missing children found dead in river

The bodies of the children were found almost a week after they were reported missing.

LIMPOPO – Limpopo Department of Social Development MEC Nkakareng Rakgoale has expressed her concern over the ever increasing number of missing person cases in the province.

This after the bodies of Themba Ngomane (8), Nonjabulo Ngomane (9) and Katlego Sibande (15) were found in the river near Phooko village outside Dennilton on Tuesday (September 7).

The two siblings and their neighbour were reported missing from the Dennilton area on Tuesday (August 31).

The MEC said the province is seeing an increase in missing person cases and urged parents and caregivers to ensure their children are safe and protected at all times.

“It is concerning to learn about this cruel incident which has seen us losing three children at a go.

“We are now starting to see cases of missing persons raring its ugly head in the province, a trend which we must all guard against and not allow to happen.”

She added that a team of social workers has been deployed to the area to provide psycho-social support to the families of three children.

Meanwhile the search for the Raphasha children, Tshegofatso (6) and Kamogelo (7) still continues in the Senwabarwana area.

The children were last seen wearing brown and khaki tracksuits.

The siblings were reported missing on August 24.

According to police reports the siblings left their home the day before in the company of a 26-year-old female relative who is said to be mentally challenged. The woman has since been located but the whereabouts of the two girls remains unknown.

Anyone who knows of their whereabouts is urged to contact Cpt Albert Manaka on 082 414 6634, Const Frans Seema on 079 8401 780, the Crime Stop number on 086 001 0111 or via the MySAPSpp.

“A team of social workers will remain with the Raphasha family, while the search for their children continues,” concluded Rakgoale.
