Tebatso an optimist despite high rate of unemployment in SA
Tebatso Ramokonyana is one of the millions of South African youths who does not know what the future holds for them on the employment front.
POLOKWANE – The 23-year-old completed a BA media studies degree this year and awaits her graduation ceremony.
Despite the high unemployment rate and the scarcity of jobs, she hopes to become a journalist and to work for a radio station.
“I really want to be a journalist. The reason I decided to study media studies is because that is where my passion lies,” she explained.
Tebatso is not discouraged by the unemployment rate and shared that she will accept any opportunity that presents itself until she gets a foot in the door of her dream job.
“I apply for every internship that I qualify for and spend a lot of time on the internet in search of job opportunities,” she said.
She urged her fellow graduates not to lose hope despite the bleak future for the country.
“There is always a possibility. Submit your CV everywhere. Don’t be selective just because you have a degree. Keep on trying and trust God to open a door for you,” she added.
