Woman found murdered in Louis Trichardt home
The police have called on a former employee of the deceased to assist in the investigation.
LIMPOPO – An elderly woman was found dead in her Louis Trichardt home on Thursday evening. According to police spokesperson Brig Motlafela Mojapelo the body of the 80-year-old woman was found by her son’s partner.
It is alleged the son, who is a warrant officer in the South African Police Services (SAPS) has phoned his mother several times on Wednesday (September 22) without any success. Yesterday he asked his partner to go to his mother’s house to check on her well-being.
“On arrival at the house at 19:00, she apparently knocked several times without an answer. When she entered the house she found the old woman’s body,” he explained.
The police were called and arrived on the scene to find, the deceased lying in a pool of blood. “She had sustained deep cut wounds and a case of murder was opened.”
Mojapelo said the motive for the attack is not yet known but that police have called on a former employee of the deceased, Trevor Gumbu to assist in their investigation.
The Zimbabwean national has been asked to report to the nearest police station.
“Anyone who knows the whereabouts of Gumbu or has information about the incident can contact Capt Ronald Tinyani on 076 813 0378, the 24-hour Crime Stop number on 086 001 0111 or the nearest police.”
