Man arrested for assaulting minor who attempted to rape girl (4)

The man reportedly hit a nine-year-old boy with a belt and put him in 'a big dish with cold water'.

LIMPOPO – The police in Vuwani are still investigating a case of attempted rape of a four-year-old girl in Tshimbupfe Tshilindi.

Police spokesperson Brig Motlafela Mojapelo told Review that a nine-year-old boy reportedly attempted to rape the girl on September 29.

“The following day, a 21-year-old man from the area fetched the boy and took him to his place of residence. The man assaulted the minor with a belt and also put him in a big dish filled with cold water,” Mojapelo explained.

He said the man was arrested for assault.

“He appeared before the Vuwani Magistrate’s Court on October 4 and the case was remanded to October 19 for further investigation. The accused was released on a warning,” Mojapelo added.
