Police commissioner condemns senseless killing of Thohoyandou businessman

The 47-year-old businessman was gunned down outside his establishment on Monday evening, says the police.

LIMPOPO – Provincial police commissioner Lt Genl Thembi Hadebe has condemned the senseless murder of a 47-year-old business owner from Thohyandou who was gunned down outside his establishment on Monday evening.

According to a statement issued by police spokesperson Brig Motlafela Mojapelo the incident happened at around 21:00 outside Mangodi Eating House and Bottle-store.

‘It is alleged the victim, who has since been identified as Victor Ramukumba from Maniini village, was seated in his vehicle, waiting to transport his employees home, when he was accosted by an unknown number of suspects.”

Mojapelo said several shots were fired at the victim before the suspects fled the scene without taking anything. Ramukumba sustained several gunshot wounds and was certified dead by emergency medical services who attended to the scene.

Two of his employees reportedly took cover during the incident, he added.

Hadebe called on the police to not rest until the perpetrators are apprehended. “This cold-blooded murder committed by faceless assailants who obviously took cover of darkness to carry out their criminal act, demands condemnation by everyone.

“The police will not rest until the suspects are brought to book.”

She further called on the public to assist the police by providing valuable information that can lead to the arrest of the killers. “Anyone with information can contact the investigating officer, Sgt Maanda Sumbana on 0722677346, the 24-hour Crime Stop number on 086 001 0111 or their nearest police station,” she concluded.
