‘Children’s safety should be top priority’
Limpopo Premier Chupu Matabatha condemned the spate of senseless acts of violence committed against the innocent in the province, including the kidnapping of the four Moti brothers.
LIMPOPO – Limpopo Premier, Chupu Stanley Mathabatha called on all sectors of society to work together to create a better life for children.
National Children’s Day was celebrated on the first Saturday of November and in observation of the day, Mathabatha on Saturday (November 6) created awareness around the increase of crimes that involve children.
“As Provincial Government, we are deeply concerned about the recent spate of abuse, violence and senseless killings of children in the province.”
One of these ‘senseless acts’ includes the recent kidnapping of the four Moti brothers. Other incidents of attempted kidnappings, murders and violence have been noted on social media and is of grave concern to Mathabatha.
In a statement he said it is the collective responsibility of parents, churches and all sectors of society to treasure and protect children from violence, abuse, neglect or degradation.
Today marks 21 days since Zidan, Zayyad, Alaan and Zia were kidnapped while on their way to school. Police remain mum on any new developments in the case due to the sensitivity thereof.
In an earlier visit to the Moti family, the premier condemned the ruthless way in which the four boys were snatched from their family and assured the family the authorities will not rest until the criminals face the wrath of the law.
In his latest statement he once again urged residents to work closely with law enforcement agencies to stamp out these barbaric acts against children.
“Together we can create a better life for our future leaders,” Mathabatha concluded.
