[TAKE NOTE] N1 road open after fatal collision

LIMPOPO – The N1 south road is open following a fatal head-on collision between a bakkie and a truck, earlier today.

The incident happened between Kranskop and Middlefontein and Mike Maringa media liaison officer for the Department of Transport and Community Safety says the road is now open.

LIMPOPO – The N1 south road is closed following a head-on collision between a bakkie and a truck.

According to Mike Maringa media liaison officer for the Department of Transport and Community Safety the incident happened between Kranskop and Middlefontein and fatalities have been reported.

“It is alleged the driver of the bakkie lost control of their vehicle due to a burst tyre and crashed into the on-coming truck. The driver died on impact,” he explained.

Motorists travelling from Pretoria to Polokwane are advised to turn onto the R33 and join the N1 near Kranskop. Motorist travelling southbound are advised to join the R101 in Mookgophong.
