Both occupants, men in their 30s, were severely injured, says ER24's spokesperson Russel Meiring

LIMPOPO – Two people were trapped after the bakkie they were travelling in rolled on the N1.

The incident happened approximately 8km from Mookgophong on Friday morning. According to ER24’s spokesperson Russel Meiring, members of the provincial fire services attended to the scene and extricated both casualties before handing them over to ER24 paramedics.

Meiring said ER24’s crew arrived on the scene to find the bakkie and trailer on the side of the road.

“The rescue members were extricating the two men who were trapped inside the vehicle and once freed, medics assessed the patients.”

Meiring said both men had sustained critical injuries and were provided with advanced life support interventions before they were transported to nearby hospitals for further care.

Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations, he concluded.

The exact cause of the incident will be determined through police investigation.
