Seniors share the fruits of their hothouse

Residents of Our Home/Ons Tuiste can now cultivate their own vegetables after the Rotary Club of Pietersburg 100 built a hothouse on their premises.

POLOKWANE – Rotary Club of Pietersburg 100 president Dr Casper Gilfillan officially presented the facility to the chairman of the institution and board members recently and said that the materials and seeds were donated by businesses and individuals in the community. “This facility will provide the residents with an opportunity for productive recreation and to get out of their rooms. They will share the fruits of their labour with other residents as well as the kitchen,” Gilfillan explained.

The hothouse contains 20 boxes and the residents could choose which plants to cultivate. Tomatoes, carrots and a variety of herbs appeared to be the favourite.
