Bullet-riddled bodies of two men found in idling car near Pienaarsrivier, Limpopo
The two victims are attached to a local taxi association and the police appeal to anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
LIMPOPO – Provincial SAPS appealed to the public for information that can lead to the arrest of those involved in a double murder in the Pienaarsrivier policing area on Saturday (November 20).
This comes after the bullet-riddled bodies of two men, who are believed to be taxi operators, were found in an idling vehicle at the Pankop-Pienaarsrivier T-junction at around 15:00, said police spokesperson Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo.
He added the deceased have been identified as the chairman and secretary of the Simunye Taxi Association, Charles Sibanda (age not yet determined) and Julius Morifi (5).
“It is believed the two victims had attended a funeral at Phake village and were travelling home when they were accosted by an unknown number of suspects near the T-junction.”
During the incident the victim’s vehicles was shot at several times and both occupants were killed, Mojapleo explained.
“It is not clear at this stage how many suspects were involved and whether or not they were on foot or driving a motor vehicle.
“The motive for the incident is not known at this stage but taxi violence cannot be ruled out. Anyone with information is requested to contact Lieutenant Colonel Richard Boshomane on 079 894 5501, the 24-hour Crime Stop number on 086 001 0111, MySAPSApp or the nearest police station.
Provincial police commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, has urged the public to assist the investigators and provide valuable information that can lead to the apprehension of the assailants.
