[TAKE NOTE] 24-hour water shutdown for Polokwane

The shutdown of the Ebenezer pipeline will enable the team from Lepelle Northern Water (LNW) to implement the second phase of restoring the main pipeline.

POLOKWANE – A 24-hour water shutdown is planned for tomorrow (November 24).

Thipa Selala, Spokesperson for the Polokwane Municipality says Lepelle Northern Water (LNW) estimates the shutdown to last around 24 hours.

“According to LNW, the planned shutdown is parts of the second phase of the replacement of valves on the main pipeline from Ebenezer water scheme. The shutdown is expected to commence at 07:00 on Wednesday and will affect all areas of supply within the Polokwane Municipality,” he explains.

He adds that the shutdown comes as the municipality’s reservoirs are experiencing low water levels due to the lack of water supply from the Olifantspoort line due to muddy water and appeals to residents to use water sparingly during this period.

Water tankers will be sent to all affected areas, to provide temporary relief, he says.

“Water supply shall be restored once LNW completes their work
