Limpopo’s R50m Powerball winner comes forward

The 28-year-old unemployed woman from Groblersdal says that "when it’s your time, it will happen".

LIMPOPO – “When it’s your time it will happen, ” said the 28-year-old winner of the R50m PowerBall PLUS jackpot November 16 draw.

According to national lottery operator, Ithuba the ticket was purchased at Caltex Luckau filling station in Groblersdal via the quick pick selection, with a wager of R45.

“After a brief search, we have now welcomed our latest PowerBall PLUS winner into our multi-millionaires circle,” said Ithuba’s corporate affairs specialist Lebogang Mokoena.

The winner is a former general worker who worked on the farm in Groblersdal and has been unemployed since 2016.

The winner stated: “I have been surviving off my mother’s small income since 2016 and before that I was a general worker on the farms. I decided to play the PowerBall when my boyfriend encouraged me to.”

When asked about her plans for the winnings, she said she wants to build houses for her mother and her boyfriend’s mother.

“At the moment I am so overwhelmed with mixed emotions, I am happy and scared at the same time.

“I had been playing for a long time and I believe that everyone has their day, when it’s your time it will happen so people should keep on playing because you never know,” she told Ithuba.

Charmaine Mabuza, Ithuba CEO congratulated the winner.

“Our team has offered the winner counselling followed by extensive financial advice to assist her with financial planning at no cost.” said Mabuza.
