Minor raped, murdered: Suspect abandons bail
The six-year-old girl was reportedly taken while playing with the other children from the neighbourhood.

LIMPOPO – A 28-year-old man, accused of the rape and murder of a six-year-old girl from Dark City, Praktiseer outside Burgersfort, has been remanded in custody until 2022.
The accused appeared in the Praktiseer Magistrate’s Court on Monday on charges related to rape and murder.
Mashudu Malabi-Dzhangi, the regional spokesperson for the Limpopo Division of the National Prosecuting Authority said he abandoned his application for bail and his case was postponed to February 1 for further investigation.

LIMPOPO – A 28-year-old man, accused of the rape and murder of a six-year-old girl, will appear in the Praktiseer Magistrate’s Court today.
Provincial police say the suspect was arrested this weekend shortly after her body was discovered in a yard in Dark City, Praktiseer outside Burgersfort.
According to police spokesperson Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo, the child was kidnapped and murdered on Friday (November 3).
Mojapelo said the deceased was reportedly playing with the other children from the neighbourhood when she went missing. “It is alleged that later the day the mother of the child noticed her daughter was missing. The police were alerted and she with the assistance of the community and authorities searched the area until the her daughter’s body was found in a neighbour’s yard.
“The suspect was identified as a man who resides in the same street as the victim and a manhunt was launched until he was found hiding in a yard nearby. He was immediately arrested,” Mojapelo added.
He said preliminary investigations conducted at the scene of the crime suggested that the victim was raped before she was killed.
Social Development MEC Nkakareng Rakgoale has called for the court not to grant the accused bail calling for justice to prevail. “It is a shocking incident and it is disheartening to still see incidents of gender-based violence and femicide continuing in the province, especially during the time the country is still commemorating 16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children.”
She added that the department has sent a team of social workers to the area to provide pyscho-social support the family of the victim.
