POLOKWANE – Local tour guide Bruce Nobela urges revellers to travel to some of the province’s major tourist destinations this festive season.

“The Kruger National Park is considered one of the best national parks in the world. It is the third largest national park worldwide and boasts two million hectares. The park is also perfect for day visitors to take some time and self-drive through and get a real taste of Africa or join a guided open vehicle safari. Mapungubwe is one of the most significant historical landmarks in southern Africa. The site is a historical marvel that not only carries cultural significance, but also presents a beautifully scenic travel destination,” Nobela explains.

He mentions that the province boasts a number of dams, private game reserves and municipal parks that should be paid a visit.

“Places such as Bela-Bela Hot Springs, Marakele National Park, the Sagole Big Tree in the Vhembe district, the Ribola Art Route and Magoebaskloof Canopy Tours should also be on your list.”

He stresses that it is important for people to take regular holidays to reduce the stress in their lives and give themselves the space and time to get back to work with a clear mind.

“Change of scenery is good for one’s health. Travelling gives one a better outlook on life, allows one to pause and seek a different perspective. There are different vacations for different people. Many people prefer to go to beaches because of its family orientated setup. Others prefer wilderness, skydiving and bungee jumping to unwind and relax their minds.”
