Heartwarming farewell for three Public Works employees

The Department of Public Works, Roads and Infrastructure’s properties and facilities department bode farewell to three of their colleagues who retired.

POLOKWANE – The three retirees had their last day on November 30 and their colleagues had to adjust and move on without their expertise.

As of December 1, Johanna Mokgolobotho, Mankopane Maupye and Thomas Shitlhavani officially started the next chapter of their lives and they look forward to create new memories.

Maupye said that she was sad to leave because she feels like she found a second family in her colleagues.

“There’s a time and season for everything. I recently turned 60 and it is my time to leave the department. You have embraced me and I’ll leave with many cherished memories. I’m putting down my baton, it’s up to you to pick it up and make use of it or leave it where it is,” she said.

She advised the team to stay united and continue to support each other. Mokgolobotho thanked everyone for the respect they showed during her time in the properties and facilities department.

“Blessings came after I joined the department because you made me the person I am today,” she said. She thanked everyone for their prayers and added that she will continue to keep them in her prayers. Shitlhavani said that he was blessed to be part of the department.

“It has been nice to work with you. Some people retired and others transferred to other posts, but I am grateful to God for the time he gave me to be with you,” he said.

He added that he is not retiring because he is tired, he is leaving to make way for younger people, especially with the scarcity of jobs.
