Six killed in head-on collision in Limpopo
Six people have lost their lives after a sedan and a bakkie collided on the R521.

LIMPOPO – Six people have lost their lives after a sedan and a bakkie collided on the R521.
According to a statement by Transport media liaison officer Mike Maringa, the incident occurred just after 03:00 near Matamanyane Junction in the Capricorn district.
“Another two were critically injured in the head-on collision. It is reported that the driver of the bakkie recklessly made a U-turn on the road and collided head-on with the sedan,” Maringa explained.
He said the six people, which include both drivers and four passengers, were killed instantly.
“Reckless driving has been cited as a possible cause of the accident,” he added.
Limpopo Transport and Community Safety MEC Mavhungu Lerule-Ramakhanya sent her condolences to the families who lost their loved ones. She once again urged motorists to be extra cautious on the roads.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident, the N1 north between Polokwane and Solomondale is temporarily closed following an earlier incident.
Maringa urged motorists travelling from Polokwane to use the R81 and those travelling from Louis Trichardt to either turn to Munnik or Solomondale to join the R81.
