Festive wishes from MEC Thabo Mokone
As the department responsible for economic development and tourism, we plead with our people to vaccinate, wear masks, avoid crowded environments, sanitise and remain suspicious of anyone near you who fails to observe all safety measures.
Once again, as the people of Limpopo, we expect to observe a second festive season under Covid-19.
We are confident that those who operate within the economic sector as well as the tourism sector have taken various key lessons from the 2020 festive season, which should be implemented during this festive period to ensure that we all work together to drastically prevent the spread of Covid-19 infections.
Should the economic and the tourism sectors not take harsh steps against participants who disrespect measures implemented under the State of Disaster, we will, without a doubt, see an increase in cases. We will witness increased hospitalisations and we will unwillingly welcome stricter lockdown levels. Any adjustments from the current level 1 lockdown has a proven potential to negatively impact the livelihoods of our people, business operations as well as cripple the tourism sector, which was just on an upward trajectory.
As the department responsible for economic development and tourism, we plead with our people to vaccinate, wear masks, avoid crowded environments, sanitise and remain suspicious of anyone near you who fails to observe all safety measures.
Treat all unvaccinated citizens as positive Covid-19 cases.
Happy festive season!
