Limpopo police launch manhunt for husband who fatally shot his wife
The woman's body was found in a pool of blood inside their home at Rockview New Stands outside Phalaborwa.

LIMPOPO – Provincial police commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has condemned the latest gender-based violence incident which claimed the life of a 31-year-old woman from Phalaborwa.
The woman was fatally shot in her home at Rockview New Stands, Namakgale at about 12:00 on December 26. Police spokesperson Brigadier Motlafela Mojapleo said it is alleged neighbours had heard a gunshot and went to investigate when they found the deceased in a pool of blood.
Emergency medical services and the police were called to the scene and the victim was certified dead on the scene.
Mojapelo added that preliminary investigations conducted at scene indicated that the deceased, who was identified as Vivi Moropane, was fatally shot by her husband. Further investigations revealed the suspect had thereafter left the house driving a BMW.
A manhunt has been launched for the husband.

The police urged anyone with information about this incident to contact the investigating officer from Namakgale, Detective Commander Lieutenant Colonel Lilian Mahlathi on 082 469 1240. Alternatively they can contact the 24-hour Crime Stop number on 086 001 0111.
Hadebe further urged the public to desist from resorting to violence when faced with domestic challenges and should instead seek assistance from available platforms.
MEC for Social Development Nkakareng Rakgoale also condemned the incident saying the violent crimes against women and children in Limpopo continues to violate and strip away the dignity and the rights of the victims.
Rakgoale is concerned that there are couples and families that still do not break the silence and seek professional assistance whenever they experience challenges in their relationships and families. “We have social workers who are strategically deployed across the province and freely available to speedily intervene through our family preservation programme among other things.”
She added that a team of social workers has been dispatched to Rockview village to provide psycho-social support to the affected parties.
