The bogus doctor allegedly swindled R40 000 from female victims in Polokwane, Mankweng, Botlokwa and other areas.

POLOKWANE – The police are appealing to anyone who might have fallen victim to a bogus doctor in the Mankweng area to come forward to assist with unfolding investigations.

A 29-year-old was arrested by the provincial tracking team in Mankweng on February 28 as part of ongoing, weekly, joint operations, targeting all crime infested areas in the province.

He was one of 1 397 suspects arrested.

Police spokesperson, Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo says the police received information about a man who was swindling money from unsuspecting female victims around Polokwane, Mankweng, Botlokwa, Senwabarwana and Tzaneen.

Mojapelo says the man would drive around in a BMW X5 and at times, would disguise himself as an evangelist.

“A case of theft under false pretenses was opened after he allegedly swindled about R40 000 from female victims and the BMW was also seized. He is expected to appear in court soon,” Mojapelo said.
