Backup generator to supply Eduan Park with power

The Municipality says in order for this to work, only lights and refrigerators should be used and geysers and stoves should be turned off.

POLOKWANE – Municipal spokesperson Thipa Selala says a back-up generator that will feed four substations will provide temporary power supply to the Eduan Park area tonight while repairs continue.

Selala says the lines supplying the area were extensively damaged in this mornings circuit breaker explosion at the Gamma Substation and that restoring power supply is estimated to take another day or more.

“In order for this exercise to be successful, the municipality appeals to all stakeholders in the area to cooperate by turning off all electrical appliances including geysers and stoves. Only lights and refrigerators should be used. Failure to cooperate will result in this temporary measure becoming unsuccessful and resulting in more time without electricity,” he said.

Meanwhile, power has been restored to all other affected areas.
