Date of Sassa grant payments to change from April

While payment dates will change, Sassa says older persons and linked grants will still be paid first, followed by disability grants the following day and child grants thereafter.

POLOKWANE – The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) says social grant payments will, from April 2022, be paid from the second day of the month.

The agency said they had heard the public’s cry over payment dates each month.

“If the second day of the month falls on a weekend or a public holiday, the payment will take place on the following working day,” a statement read.

While payment dates will change, Sassa says older persons and linked grants will still be paid first, followed by disability grants the following day and child grants thereafter.

This means that payments will start from April 4 next month. It is unknown whether the change will affect Covid-19 grant payouts.

The agency said they are confident that the new arrangement will work.
