Stoppage at Olifanspoort to affect water supply in Polokwane

Lepelle Northern Water said Eskom is conducting planned maintenance to pump station three without prior notification.

POLOKWANE – The Polokwane Municipality says there will be no water supply to Polokwane due to planned maintenance as per Lepelle Northern Water.

Municipal spokesperson Thipa Selala said a letter from Lepelle Northern Water reads: “This serves to notify Polokwane Local Municipality of the stoppage of Olifantspoort Scheme’s Pump Station three (PS3), owing to Eskom’s planned maintenance on the line supplying PS3 which is being conducted without prior notification. There will be no water supply to Polokwane due to planned maintenance affecting the operation of PS3. Eskom reported that maintenance will be completed at 18:00 today.”

Selala said this will affect water supply to all areas from the city to Seshego and Ga-Chuene.

“The municipality will provide temporary relief through water tankers until the Lepelle Northern Water challenge is solved. However, it should be noted that, after restoration, it would still take some time for supply to reach all areas of supply due to the empty line,” he said.

Water related challenges can be reported to the municipal water and sanitation call centre on 015 023 5376 / 5629.
