Health dept calls for a stop to ambulance prank calls

Health spokesperson Neil Shikwambana called on the community at large to not endanger the lives of others in the name of April Fools jokes.

POLOKWANE – The Limpopo Department of Health says emergency service stations in the province have received several prank calls this April Fools (April 1).

“There are stations that have received calls and when they respond with ambulances to areas where they are called, they find that no one knows of someone in need of assistance,” health spokesperson, Neil Shikwambana said.

Shikwambana added that not only does this frustrate EMS personel, but it poses a danger to someone who might be in dire need of the service.

“The department is calling on the community at large to not endanger the lives of others in the name of April Fools jokes,” he said.
