Mass power outage: Fault located

Municipal communications manager Matshidiso Mothapo has provided an update on the situation.

POLOKWANE – A large part of the city has been affected by a power outage.

Review was earlier informed about a number of areas in the Polokwane municipal area that are without power supply.

Municipal communications manager Matshidiso Mothapo said in a statement that the fault has been located at Eskom’s Witkop substation.

“Eskom technicians are working on the matter and an update will be provided as soon as available,” he explained.

Mothapo urged residents to treat all electrical wiring as live during the outage and to switch
off all appliances to avoid injury and damage once supply is restored.

“We urge residents to be patient during this period as we allow technicians to sort out the problem. Electricity challenges can be reported to the Municipal Electrical Call Centre on 015 023 5490/ 015 023 5707 or via WhatsApp on 083 824 9886,” he concluded.
