Thohoyandou woman accused of cheating shot and killed by boyfriend
Police are investigating the murder of salon owner Mukhethwa Makatu, who was invited to her boyfriend's house under the pretence that she would be getting a gift.
LIMPOPO – A man who accused his girlfriend of being unfaithful to him, seemingly invited her to his house under the pretence that she should collect a gift, before he shot and killed her at his house in Thohoyandou Unit D, a suburb near Thohoyandou Block G clinic, last Sunday evening.
Family spokesperson Mpho Tshikororo said they are still saddened by the news of the gruesome murder of Mukhethwa Makatu, who was a salon owner in Shayandima township. The deceased used to work in her salon, take care of her children and in recent weeks, hoped that her killer would leave her alone.
Another source close to the family, who did not want to be named, said the woman stayed in Shayandima and was invited by her boyfriend on the day of the incident to collect a present from his house.

Acting police spokesperson in the Vhembe region, Sgt Vuledzani Dathi said police are investigating a case of murder.
“When the police arrived on the scene a man who is believed to be the victim’s boyfriend, alleged that when he got home and walked into sitting room, he found the deceased lying on her back with a gunshot wound. “She was partially covered in a blue blanket and was certified dead by EMS personnel,” said Dathi.
Dathi confirmed last Tuesday that the suspect was detained for questioning and investigations continue.
Limpopo-based organisation, Munna Ndi Nnyi? (Who is the real man?) chairperson, Dr Bardwell Mufunwaini strongly condemned the incident and said men should be the protectors of their families.
Mufunwaini urged men to refrain from such behaviour and said if a man encounters family problems, they can call his organisation, social workers or local pastors to resolve domestic problems.
