Limpopo Squash invites the youth to the junior squash programme

Polokwane and Soutpansberg squash clubs have successfully launched the junior programmes and children are encouraged to join the fun.

POLOKWANE – On October 22, the Polokwane Squash Club hosted the Growthpoint Superstars squash event.

Junior squash players from all around Limpopo were welcomed to the Polokwane Squash Club.

With the recent launch of the Limpopo Junior Squash (LJS) programme, squash was introduced to more than 80 junior players and a potential provincial champion was already identified.

“Harry Marais moves like a well-seasoned athlete and if we give him some special attention, he will potentially be the provincial champion before he completes school,” said coach Erik Welman.

The event was hosted to boost participation for the weekly Limpopo junior squash programme.

The juniors were privileged to be coached and exposed to squash by top local coaches.

During the event, the essentials to excel in the sport were demonstrated.

The participants received equipment, food, snacks, and refreshments during the event.

Juniors interested in sports should take note and sign up for the programme.

Parents looking for a sporting activity for their children should sign them up as squash builds mental and physical strength.

Polokwane and Soutpansberg squash clubs have successfully launched the junior programmes while the clubs in Tzaneen and the University of Limpopo will launch the programme soon.

The programme provides coaching, equipment, mentorship, and tournaments to its participants at a very affordable price.

At R200 per quarter, this opportunity offers exceptional value due to dedicated volunteers that are committed to grassroots development and growth of the game.

“If this momentum and growth continues, Limpopo Squash will produce future national champions sooner rather than later,” Michael Ward says.

The Limpopo Squash Association administers squash throughout the province.

The association manages the provincial junior, senior and masters squash teams.
