Da Costa takes over the reigns at Noordelikes Rugby Club

After seeking out the best talent in the community, Da Costa wants to make sure the club is financially viable and that it's image is protected.

POLOKWANE – Newly elected chairman of Noordelikes Rugby Club, Tony Da Costa says he wants to give all the aspiring rugby players in the province an opportunity to play rugby for their club.

He says they will host trials for players in all age categories at the club in January to bring new players into the team.

“We look for potential and talented players that can play rugby. We will scout players that we want to bring into the first team and other age groups. We will go out to the communities to bring in young talent. The main objective is to build a team that can compete and challenge for all the league titles on offer. My other core objective is that I want to make the club financially viable and make sure that the club’s image is protected.”

The 52-year-old senior financial advisor at Old Mutual Polokwane says they have appointed Arno Hanekom as the first team coach.

Hanekom takes over from their long-serving coach Fred Romjin.

“We have appointed Arno as head coach, he was assistant coach for a long time and he knows the players well. He is an accredited coach and we believe he will do well.”

Da Costa said they will host an awards ceremony on November 25 at the club’s headquarters in Polokwane to reward the best performing players who have done exceptionally well throughout the year.
