Police on the hunt for matric learner’s killer(s)
A manhunt was launched after a matric learner in Mokopane was found stabbed to death on the school premises over the weekend.
MOKOPANE – Phillimon Mkomo from Tshamahansi village in Mahwelereng policing area was supposed to be at Ben Hlogwane Secondary School over the weekend to engage in study sessions in preparation for his final exams.
The 20-year-old matric learner reportedly sneaked out of the study camp and broke away from the group of learners on Saturday (November 26).
Once the guardians at the camp realised he was gone they went searching for him, but he could not be tracked down.
His body was found yesterday (November 27) on the school premises with several stab wounds.
“Initial investigation on the scene indicates a possibility that the learner could have been stabbed elsewhere and retreated back to school and collapsed behind one of the blocks on the premises,” Colonel Malesela Ledwaba confirmed in a statement.
Provincial police commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe strongly condemned this incident and appealed to any person with information to come forward and assist the police to track down Mkomo’s killers.
Anyone with information is urged to contact the investigating officer, Sergeant Munzhedzi Patrick Bebeda, on 083 721 8652, the nearest Police Station on 08600 10111 or use the MySAPSApp.
