Five people, including the two drivers were declared dead on scene, while three more passengers sustained serious injuries.

LIMPOPO – The Limpopo MEC for Transport and Community Safety, Florence Radzilani, sent her condolences to the bereaved families of five people who lost their lives on the road yesterday (December 24).

The incident occurred on the R81, near BP Garage and the Solomondale turn-off in Capricorn District when two vehicles were involved in a head-on collision at about 20:00 last night.

“Five people, including the drivers of both vehicles were declared dead on the scene, and three other passengers were taken to Mankweng Hospital to treat the serious injuries they sustained in the incident,” Tidimalo Chuene confirmed in a statement.

Officials on the scene said reckless driving is one of the possibilities that led to the incident.

“We are saddened by the news and send heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved families. May they be granted strength to get through this difficult time. I take this sad opportunity to remind all road users to prioritize safety during this period. Let us obey the rules of the road at all times to arrive alive, ” Radzilani said.
