Aspiring emergency services practitioners are eager to help

POLOKWANE – Young and effervescent aspiring emergency services practitioners are eager to offer first aid services at any sport event in Seshego and Mankweng.
The group has been involved in local sport events such as athletics, soccer, rugby and netball where they help paramedics from local ambulances with first aid responsibilities.
Mosudi Lekota, one of the members, said they usually partner with local ambulance services where they help paramedics with any injuries and related incidents at any sporting event.
“We are still students and we want to flourish in the medical industry, and by doing this, we prepare ourselves for that chapter. We have been taught about first aid and we are willing to teach the young people in our various communities about first aid. We love people and we want to assist them in any situation.”
Lekota stressed that she chose first aid because she loves it and she wants to help people who need emergency services.
“Emergency services are very important in society and I think in each family there should be at least one member who has knowledge about first aid, so that they know what to do in case of emergency.”
Another member of the group, Reneilwe Masha said they urge community members to make use of them.
“We are willing to offer our services at weddings, parties, graduation ceremonies for free because we believe there should be emergency services at any event. Also every community should have young people who are equipped with emergency service knowledge, so that they can help when there are accidents in their areas.”
