Inspection at Ebenezer Dam to affect water supply in Polokwane

Water supply from the dam will be shut off for four hours at a time for an inspection by the Department of Water and Sanitation next week.

POLOKWANE – An inspection by the Department of Water and Sanitation at the Ebenezer Dam is expected to affect water supply to the city.

The Polokwane Municipality said the inspection will take place on Monday (June 19) from 09:00 and on Tuesday (June 20) from 08:00 for a total of four hours each.

Municipal spokesperson Thipa Selala said water supply from the dam will be temporarily cut to allow for inspection work.

“Pumping of water from the Ebenezer Dam to areas within the Polokwane municipality shall resume once the Department of Water and Sanitation has finalised the inspection,” a press release read.

Selala said the municipality will provide temporary relief of water supply to all areas that might experience water challenges on the days of inspection.

Meanwhile, low water pressure continues to leave residents in the city frustrated.

On Wednesday (June 15), it was reported that the low pressure is due to reduced pumping from the Olifantspoort High Lift Pump Station as a result of the failure of two pumps.
