Friends band together to tell Limpopo’s stories
Through the work of four friends, LimNews broadcasts feel-good stories, focusing on festivals, activities, destinations and the people of the province.

POLOKWANE – With decades of experience under his belt, Riaan Barnard had the idea to promote Limpopo in a different light with the help of his friends.
Barnard is a member of LimNews and said they wanted to tell Limpopo’s stories and show its people in a way that the rest of the country would gain better insight into just how beautiful the province is.
“We only tell good news and wonderful experiences from Limpopo that not only highlights tourism opportunities but also attracts businesses to the province,” he said.
Barnard was born in Limpopo and for as long as he can remember, glorified the province through making a difference.
LimNews offers each team member the opportunity to chase their dreams.
Barnard has decades of experience in national and international marketing and sales and he searches for young talent in Limpopo to help him develop his idea of LimNews.
Two production houses in the country and province combined their strengths to form LimNews’ identity which is “Limpopo talent for Limpopo stories‘.
Their first video was published in November 2022 and their current episode is live with a new one each week.
Barnard said none of LimNews’ members studied journalism but that all of them are storytellers.
“We combine our efforts to write scripts and production stories. Our passion is to tell the stories of Limpopo.”
LimNews only broadcasts feel-good stories, focusing on festivals, activities, destinations and the people of the province.
“Whenever a story glorifies Limpopo or makes it unique, it is news worthy. It can be any story that attracts more feet to the province or to tell people about the province and its activities.”
The team travels throughout Limpopo for stories and future plans include offering work opportunities to people in the province while another is to make a documentary about Limpopo.
Their news is distributed via Facebook, YouTube and Instagram while a website in in the works.
