Political parties including the ANC, DA and the EFF have already started with their campaigns to encourage residents to vote.

POLOKWANE – Residents who want to vote for their political party of choice in the 2024 National Election have until this weekend to register or verify their details.

For those who have still not used the available digital platforms to register, and prefer the assistance of experts at registration centres; the Independent Electoral Commission’s (IEC) Nkaro Mateta advises residents in the city and the vicinity to visit their feeder area schools including Oosskool, Piet Hugo, Mitchell House, Noorderland, Taxila, and Flora Park this weekend.

IEC Limpopo officials train Capricorn district police on the use of Voter Management Devices at the SAPS Provinicial JOC in Ladine on Friday.

The official voting date has not yet been announced, but political parties including the ANC, DA and the EFF have already started with their campaigns to encourage residents to vote.

SAPS officials in Capricorn were trained in Ladanna on Friday to use Voter Management Devices (VMDs) that replaced the zip zip method from 2021.

Meanwhile, the IEC on Monday found that an estimated 13 million eligible South Africans are still unregistered to vote, and youths still topped the list.

Student Representative Councils of tertiary institutions have in recent times hosted events meant to get students to register and vote, Mateta added. You need to bring along a green bar-coded identity book, smart card or valid temporary ID.
