Miss Congeniality finalist Tshikota needs help

LIMPOPO – A visually impaired girl from Tshikota, Mulamuleli Nemanganya (22) has been announced as a finalist in the Miss Congeniality 2023 pageant, and needs financial assistance to cover some of the costs needed to appear in the final in Thohoyandou on December 9.

The young Mulamuleli has many plans for the future and hopes to one day represent her province in the finals of the Miss South Africa pageant.

At this point, she is looking for sponsors to assist her in terms of the dress, transport costs, and hair and makeup, which she says amounts to nearly R4 000.

She lives with her family, whom she says relies on her disability grant. “Being a finalist in the Miss Congeniality 2023 pageant is really such a privilege. For me, it is a great opportunity to showcase my capabilities and it gives me the opportunity to learn and explore. Winning this competition will be a dream come true and a chance to prove that it is possible to become anything, regardless of where you come from.”

She says her disability is not keeping her from achieving her goals. “Our province needs to empower women and people living with disabilities which is why I encourage women and disabled people to take a stand for what they believe in and support each other. In order to be successful, we need the support of our families to help encourage our talents through art and culture.”

Mulamuleleli added that parents with disabled girls should be more open-minded about the modelling industry.

“Parents can help them become influential individuals by motivating them to follow their dreams. This will, in turn, have a positive effect on the high unemployment rate as these children will play a vital part in creating employment opportunities and growing the economy. Not everyone is academically gifted, and parents should understand this and support their children.”
