More than 100 undocumented foreign nationals nabbed outside Polokwane

When the vehicles were searched, 73 underage children between the ages of six months and 17 years were found.

POLOKWANE – Several foreign nationals were apprehended by the Limpopo Provincial Tracking Team on the N1 north bypass outside Polokwane on Thursday (December 7).

The 11 vehicles intercepted were carrying 133 undocumented children, women and men. The passengers could not provide any legal documentation and most of them had no idea where they were traveling to. It is suspected they are human trafficking victims.

When the vehicles were searched, 73 underage children between the ages of six months and 17 years were found.

Police also seized eight vans, two bakkies with canopies and one SUV.

The police and other stakeholders including the Department of Home Affairs and Social Development will assist in processing the undocumented foreign nationals.

Cases of human trafficking are being investigated.
