Makhado Mayor assists workers to fill potholes

Mayor Dorcus Mboyi said the municipality had to make operational budget cuts by redirecting some of the funds to capital expenditure.

LIMPOPO – Makhado Mayor Dorcus Mboyi and her team were out and about in Louis Trichardt filling potholes on November 28.

Having inspected several streets in town, she ordered either the filling of potholes or complete resurfacing of the streets within four weeks.

Mboyi said she joined workers on site for the filling of potholes. “We have a programme whereby we oversee what our workers are doing at various projects and at the same time, take part ourselves by getting our own hands dirty,” she remarked.

She mentioned that taking part in the programme helped her understand the challenges workers faced when performing their daily tasks. “We want to show the community that the municipality is committed to providing sustainable services. We appeal to motorists to be cooperative during the upgrading process.”

According to Mboyi, the municipality had to make operational budget cuts by redirecting some of the funds to capital expenditure.

She said she wanted to encourage workers and lift their morale, and afterwards remarked that there was a need to train workers.

“We encouraged them and this will help the municipality to improve its services too,” she said.
