Polokwane beauty queen flies Lim flag high

Kamogelo Makgato, reigning Miss Teen Universe South Africa 2024 is looking forward to her time in the Dominican Republic.

POLOKWANE – The reigning Miss Teen Universe South Africa 2024, Kamogelo Makgato from Polokwane will be representing South Africa in the Dominican Republic in April.

Makgato was crowned in December at Emperor’s Palace in the presence of her family, friends and supporters.

“This is the biggest title I have ever won in my modelling career,” she told Polokwane Observer.

Currently studying psychology in Cape Town, Makgato said she was a shy girl growing up.

“My parents were told that the modelling industry was one of the best ways to encourage a girl out of her shell, so they registered me. Little did they know it would turn into far more than just a confidence builder, but a strong passion.”

Kamogelo Makgato gets emotional as they crown her Teen Universe South Africa 2024 last year in December at Emperors Palace.

Ten years in the industry, Makgato has won the Miss Capricorn District Teen pageant in 2020; and was announced runner-up in the Miss Teen South Africa contest.

The Teen Universe SA title helped her realise how passionate she is about being on stage, but most importantly, having a platform and a voice to bring about sustainable change. “Having a positive mindset towards life will keep you motivated and will see you pushing yourself to higher heights and reaching all the goals you’ve put aside for your journey.”

She is looking forward to her time in the Dominican Republic.

“Not only will it be my first time representing SA, but it will also be my first time outside of the country. I’m just excited to be meet the other queens representing their countries.”

She is also the founder of the Kamogelo Makgato Foundation through which she funds tertiary studies for three students this year.

“I would like to thank my manager, Zodwa Mdingi for playing a big role in my modelling career, and my parents who have been very supportive throughout. I’m grateful to everyone who has supported me, especially the companies that have partnered with me as a brand and believing in my vision.”
