Mokopane man dies in stabbing
The victim was reportedly involved in an altercation with the accused and three other men, during which a knife was produced.
MOKOPANE – A 50-year-old man was stabbed to death in Mokopane on Wednesday.
According to police spokesperson Col Malesela Ledwaba, the police apprehended a 26-year-old male suspect.
The victim was reportedly involved in an altercation with the suspect and his friends before the incident occurred.
Upon their arrival, police and emergency services declared the man dead.
The suspect was arrested at his home later that evening, while three other men aged between 18 and 22 were questioned after they handed themselves over to the police.
Provincial police commissioner Lt Gen Thembi Hadebe has urged the community to remain calm and allow the legal process to unfold.
“We understand the pain that comes with such loss, but we appeal to everyone to trust the justice system and refrain from taking matters into their own hands.”
The suspect is expected to appear in the Mokopane Magistrate’s Court on a charge of murder.
