Seshego geography teacher now author of two study guides

Julius Nkube who has been a geography teacher for the past 10 years compiled a study guide to assist Gr 12 learners.

POLOKWANE – Julius Theledi Nkube prioritised quality, affordability and accessibility when he wrote a geography study guide to help Gr 12 learners.

The 34-year-old from Seshego, Zone 5 is the author of Integrated Geography Study Guide guide Paper 1 and Integrated Geography Study Guide for Paper 2. He has been a geography teacher for over 10 years and his passion for the subject has been the main drive for him to create the study guide.

“I have worked in more than three secondary schools in rural areas where you find poor learners with a passion to progress in their studies but who cannot afford expensive books and access to quality geography literature. I wanted to provide updated books for learners which align with the current educational policies and requirements,” he explained.

It took him six months to compile both paper 1 and 2 study guides collectively.

Nkube is passionate about the educational progress and will be graduating with a PhD in educational management studies soon. He is also working on another book called The True Nature of South African Schools.

One of the challenges he had to overcome was to develop an affordable book because of the publishing and printing costs. He published his book through Bokang Publishing House who provided him with affordable services.

“The owner, Sepedi Masemola understood that this book must reach poor learners in the rural areas around the province and the country as a whole.”

The study guide can be accessed by contacting Nkube at 067 336 6331 for both calls and WhatsApp. He takes orders and delivers nationwide.
