POLOKWANE – On Friday, a group of concerned Seshego residents drafted a petition to present to the Seshego Circle Centre management, demanding tightened safety and security measures at the centre.
This follows sporadic robberies in stores in the centre as well as a number of theft out of motor vehicles and customers who have been robbed, according to spokesperson, Sgt Ali Maluleke.
Pizza, fried chicken and furniture shops were targeted in recent times.
Two weekends ago, robbers fled with a bag of money from a telecommunications store after an armed robbery. No one was injured in the event.
Community representative Vincent Kunutu told BONUS the time has come for centre management to take responsibility to safeguard the area.
Centre management’s Sandra Mohlabi remarked that she escalates all complaints to the powers that be.
“We are working on improving security measures as the centre is currently manned by two guards at night and three during the day. Security personnel from stores also assist to sharpen safety,” she explained.
“Management has been made aware of the petition that is being drafted and it is also willing to work with the community to best improve safety,” she concluded.
