Polokwane author helps children learn the basics of sustainable farming

Selinah Ntjana recently launched a book entitled ‘Farm Fun’ which showcases cultural activities to children through a colouring book.

POLOKWANE – Children can now learn the basics of how to farm sustainably at a young age thanks to farmer, businesswoman and author, Selinah Ntjana from Polokwane.

Ntjana recently launched a book on Plaasmark farm in Mogwadi (Dendron) entitled ‘Farm Fun’ which showcases cultural activities to children through a colouring book.

“The aim of the event was to showcase the activities to children to raise awareness and knowledge on both the agricultural sector as well as end products,” she said.

While delivering a presentation to young and older guests who were all dressed like farmers, Ntjana emphasised the importance of farmers as well as their involvement in the production process.

Activities were held during the day which coincided with an agricultural expo, flea market, exhibitions by stakeholders showcasing their products, from raw material to the final product, and competitions for both parents and children.

“We believe it is important for our children to learn about the importance of food production and livestock, and this event with your help will be the first of many steps leading them in the right direction,” Ntjana added.

The children along with their parents also had the opportunity to see goats on the farm and learn more about their habits.

Ntjana also has a book titled ‘Selinah the Goat’ as well as ‘My love for goats’ which she educates children more about goats and how to start farming as a beginner.
