Foreign national caught in Polokwane with drugs worth R17k

Police say the confiscation of the drugs will prevent them from reaching the streets of Polokwane and endanger the lives of citizens.

POLOKWANE – A 42-year-old foreign national will appear before the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court today on a charge in dealing in illicit drugs.

The man was arrested by the Provincial Organised Crime Unit in the Polokwane CBD on Tuesday (May 7) following a diligent investigations by officers.

Police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said substantial quantities of CAT and crystal meth with a combined estimated street value of almost R17 000 was seized during the arrest.

“This seizure will prevent the drugs from reaching our streets and endangering the lives of citizens,” he said.

The man’s arrest follows several others in the Polokwane area over the last few months with police continuing in their effort to crack down on drug dealing in the city.
